The pictures on display are in acrylics on paper or calico glued to plywood. Where possible without sacrificing quality, local materials are used, especially in the board and calico and the priming of the surfaces. I prefer working on a hard non-flexible ground, so I don’t often use stretched canvas. The acrylic paints and the brushes are imported from Britain. The statues are made of recycled materials such as crushed newspaper taped onto a rough framework of thin card such cereal packet, tissue boxes and cardboard boxes held together with string. I use wallpaper glue or wood glue to apply strips of newspaper to this basis, then the whole is painted with acrylic paint. e end result is quite light and rigid. |
